Online Brainspotting Therapy in Portland, ORegon
For high achievers and overthinkers who’ve realized they can’t talk their way out their feelings
You’ve spent years analyzing your patterns and know the “why” behind your stress, your burnout, and your internal defenses. But knowing isn’t the same as processing. Brainspotting helps us break through the pattern of talking in circles and goes straight to the source of your emotions.
The foundation of Brainspotting is simple: where you look has a direct impact on how you feel.
By examining the emotional and physical information your brain sends to the rest of your body, Brainspotting allows you identify, process, and release sources of emotional pain.
How Online Brainspotting Helps Break the Overthinking Loop
-
This is where you share a bit of information about the experience you’re having with an aspect of your anxiety.
-
I use a visual aid, like a pointer to track how and where you eyes move when talking about your anxiety
This helps us to find where you need to look before moving on to the next step. -
This step is sometimes called Focused Mindfulness.
During processing, your brain’s limbic system (aka your the part of your brain responsible for processing and regulating emotions) gets to work.
Some people will notice physical sensations during this process (like temperature changes or moments of tension and relaxation).
Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting doesn’t require that you talk while you process. Many people process in silence.
-
This is when I’ll guide your attention back into the present moment. If a visual aid was used, I’ll set it aside, and encourage you to take a sip of water, stretch, and return to eyes to their usual position.
Some people feel a bit tired after a Brainspotting session, while others feel energized. In either case, many people notice they also feel more peaceful following a Brainspottng session.
You Can Experience Brainspotting in Two Ways
