Online Brainspotting for Anxiety in Boulder, Colorado
Sometimes you need to talk less, so you can feel more.
Brainspotting makes use of where you look, so that you can change how you feel.
Brainspotting uses neurobiological information (aka information your brain sends to the rest of your body) to identify, process, and release sources of emotional pain.
Brainspotting Step-by-Step
-
This is where you share a bit of information about the experience you’re having with an aspect of your anxiety.
-
I use a visual aid, like a pointer to track how and where you eyes move when talking about your anxiety
This helps us to find where you need to look before moving on to the next step. -
This step is sometimes called Focused Mindfulness.
During processing, your brain’s limbic system (aka your the part of your brain responsible for processing and regulating emotions) gets to work.
Some people will notice physical sensations during this process (like temperature changes or moments of tension and relaxation).
Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting doesn’t require that you talk while you process. Many people process in silence.
-
This is when I’ll guide your attention back into the present moment. If a visual aid was used, I’ll set it aside, and encourage you to take a sip of water, stretch, and return to eyes to their usual position.
Some people feel a bit tired after a Brainspotting session, while others feel energized. In either case, many people notice they also feel more peaceful following a Brainspottng session.
I’m based in Colorado, but provide therapy online throughout Colorado and Oregon.
Online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. The bonus is that it’s a touch more convenient since you don’t need to rush out the door to make it to your appointment on time!
Brainspotting FAQs
-
Brainspotting is incorporated into weekly therapy sessions. People who work with me tend to do so for 4-12 months. Some people notice results from Brainspotting in a handful of sessions, while other may require several months of Brainspotting sessions.
All Brainspotting sessions are tailed to your specific situation and goals. Regular check-ins are part of the process to ensure you are receiving what you need from this method of treatment.
For people who prefer to work deeply and quickly, you might prefer to participate in a Brainspotting Intensive over weekly therapy. -
