Individual Therapy

You're ready to embrace all aspects of your identity and experiences. I'm here to support you if you're experiencing any of the following:

You feel like an imposter in your racial identity.
You don't feel like you're "enough" of your racial identity. You've lived your life feeling like you have to choose how to label yourself. You've tried to talk to others about your experience, but they tell you your experience doesn't count. You're tired of feeling discounted and want to feel a sense of belonging.

Together we'll uncover the narratives around your racial identity that aren't working for you and begin writing a new narrative where you feel free to define your racial identity for yourself. We'll also create a roadmap for different ways of connecting to your racial identity that allow you to feel confident and proud of who you are.
You're struggling with grief.
You feel stuck in your grief. You're familiar with the stages of grief and feel like they don't match your experience. You feel judged by others about how you express your feelings. You're exhausted by the thought that you will be consumed by this feeling for the rest of your life and are desperate for relief.

While it's general knowledge that everyone experiences loss, far too many people find themselves feeling isolated in their unique experience of grief. Through conversation and up-to-date research on grief and loss, we'll use new language to describe your experience, while also teaching you how to navigate your life after loss.
You over-intellectualize your feelings.
You know how to explain what you're feeling, but you don't know what to do with your feelings. You can name your emotions quickly, but the thought of actually experiencing them leaves you feeling panicked. You fear you'll be trapped in an emotion forever if you stop long enough to notice the bodily sensations that comes up with your emotional experience.

Sometimes it's hard to feel your emotions fully if you haven't always had the safety to do so. Together we'll discover how to establish the necessary safety for experiencing your emotions. I'll also teach you practical ways of increasing your awareness of the connection between your emotions and your body.
You're living with chronic illness.
Your body doesn't always feel like your own. You might be someone who regularly interacts with the medical system and has experienced a lack of compassion and sensitivity in your visits with doctors and specialists. You want a space where you can openly talk about the feelings of grief, anger, and social isolation that can come with being chronically ill.

Whether you're feeling frustrated and hurt by your chronic illness, or you're feeling angry or ambivalent toward your body, you deserve a space where you don't have to try to find the silver lining. Together we can talk directly about how chronic illness has affected your life and relationships, while also finding new ways for you to relate to your body.
