Couples Counseling

Your relationship might be in need of a tune-up! I can help if you're experiencing the following:

You're in an interracial relationship and need help understanding each other's experiences.
You and your parter have different racial identities and struggle to talk about race. Maybe one of you feels like the other doesn't give enough weight to how your racial identity shapes your everyday experiences. Or maybe you are both experiencing racism and feel burnt out from having to interface with this stressor.

It's both okay and necessary to acknowledge the ways your racial identities influence your interactions and understandings of one another. I'll help you talk about race in a way that leads to increased feelings of connection.
You want to learn to communicate more effectively and compassionately.
You and your partner know what you mean to say, but find it comes out in ways that lead to tension and misunderstanding. You both find yourself stuck in a pattern of communication where the conversation becomes circular and you eventually stop sharing what is on your mind in order to avoid repeating the pattern.

All relationships experience challenges around communication from time to time. I'll help you map out your typical communication pattern to better pinpoint which changes need to be made. Through experiments with communication and activities to do between our sessions, you'll learn how to share with, and respond to your partner in a way that is motivated by curiosity, compassion, and honesty.
